7 Wardrobe Tips to Prepare for your Personal Brand Photoshoot
You've finally committed to getting brand photos taken, and now you're starting to panic, thinking, "What am I going to wear?
Fortunately, your Brand Photographer will most likely do a custom consolation with you ahead of the big day, but here are seven general wardrobe tips to help make your brand shoot a breeze!
1. Fit is everything
You don't want to wait until the night before to learn the buttons on your favourite shirt are popping! Try on everything well in advance of the shoot. See how it feels when you are sitting down or if anything is pulling down or riding up. You want to be comfortable. Take cell phone pics of you wearing your shoot outfits to see yourself objectively and share them with your photographer so they can plan.
2. Solid Colours photograph best
That doesn't mean you can't wear any patterns in your outfits; some prints can make a beautiful bold statement. But for a majority of the images, solid colours make striking images that keep the focus on you while minimizing distractions.
3. Think Texture
The camera picks up on the tiniest details and textures in your outfits, making your photos more interesting. Think of including fabrics like lace, silk, cashmere or faux leather in your wardrobe for the shoot.
4. Always Accessorize
Rings, bracelets, earrings, necklaces and watches add that finishing layer to your outfits. Bring options for different looks, whether a bold statement ring or classic simple pieces that feel more timeless.
5. Shoe show
Don't underestimate the power of a great pair of shoes! They can step up a regular outfit, show off your personality or inject a pop of colour. Whether you love heels or comfy flats, be sure your shoes are in good condition!
6. Mind your Manicure
Okay, this isn't exactly a wardrobe tip, but it's close enough! You don't have to go out and get long fake nails for your photoshoot, but be aware that your fingers and hands will show in many poses and that your nails can really enhance or take away from an image.
7. Spoil yourself
Your photo shoot is a unique, out-of-the-ordinary occasion meant to show you off at your best. If you don't have any clothes you love, now is the time to spoil yourself with at least one thing new that makes you feel fabulous! Trust me; it shows on camera. Happy Shooting!
